This week's question:
What are some of your favorite comfort foods? Feel free to share any recipes.
First, I swear I will get this linky thing right. Thanks to everyone who participated last week. The linky was scheduled to start at 12:00 PM that day.
Let's talk comfort food. We are nearing the tail end of winter but that doesn't mean there still aren't some cold gray days ahead. What better way to make it through than a good book, a hot beverage and something warm and comforting in your belly. I abosolutely love making and eating soups in the winter. They are simple to put together and they are toasty warm to eat. I like all kinds of soups, recently I made a delcious sweet potato soup with bacon bits, chives and homemade toasted croutons. It was yummy.
I also like a really good tomato and the best tomato soup I ever ate was a fire roasted tomato soup at the Paradise Bakery Cafe.
One of my favorite go to easy soup recipes is a Creamy Cheddar Soup that is simple and
easy and super tasty. See the recipe here.
I really want to try my hand at a Wisconsin Beer Cheddar Soup. Anyone have any good recipes for that?
Of course, one of the traditional favorite comfort foods is homemade macaroni and cheese. I don't make this too often because my toddlers love the regular Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. Yeah, go figure. I always add extra real cheese when I make it. I think my daughter could live on macaroni. I do like this recipe for Macaroni and Cheese.
When I am craving something sweet I love this family recipe for Chocolate Chip Nut Bars. This recipe has been in my family for years and we made it countless times. I shared it at Christmas on the blog. You can see it here.
Finally, my favorite comfort food snack is without a doubt popcorn. I love popcorn and so
do my kids. We have found the best way to make popcorn is with this microwave popper by Presto. It is an air popper but it doesn't dry out your popcorn so it is never tough. Then we melt just a little bit of butter usually 3/4 stick of butter for an entire bowl and then sprinkle it with Kernel's Cheddar Seasoning. It is the perfect snack for movie night.
Those are my picks for comfort food. What about you all? Next week's question:
Link Up! See you next week! What do you do to unwind/ relax, besides reading of course?
