It's a snowy weekend here in Portland. This is our second big snow event in two weeks. We don't usually get much snow and ice here in Portland, thank goodness because I live on a steep hill. However when we do get a big snow storm, it paralyzes the city. Wednesday afternoon a snow storm was expected to roll in around two in the afternoon, and no one thought too much of it, schools were in session and things were normal, and then the storm hit and everyone panicked. Traffic was completely gridlocked and it got snowy and icy in a hurry. Some schools had kids stranded and buses couldn't get them home until after eight at night. Luckily, I went down and grabbed my kids out of school early because I didn't want to take a chance with the hill. We made it home just in time and we were all bundled safe and sound watching the chaos unfold.
The kids got an extra two days out of school and now they are out for the holidays until January 3rd. I hope we all don't go stir crazy.
My dad is still here with us, and there is no way he is driving home anytime soon, so we will have him for Christmas.
I have hardly had anytime for blogging this week as I have been running errands trying to prepare for Christmas. I am hopelessly behind. I am glad that this next week is my last week of blogging until the New Year. I need a break.
I have been trying to read a bunch of holiday books, but I have found that my last few holiday reads haven't been very cheery, what is up with that?
Anyway, I hope you are all bundled in safe and warm and that you aren't facing a snowmageddon episode!
