Here is this week's scintillating topic:
Thrillers: what are some of your favorites?
I don't know about you all, but I am always up for a good thriller whether it be a psychological romantic, or legal thriller. I love books that keep me captivated with a solid mystery, engaging characters and jaw dropping twists and turns that catch my by surprise. After reading plenty of thrillers, I have found there is a fine line when it comes to those stunning revelations. They have to be realistic and in line with the characters and story for them to work. I have certainly read plenty that flopped with cheesy developments and unbelievable twists that were meant to shock, but fizzled. That being said, I am hoping to discover some new thrillers. So I am going to share some of my favorite thrillers with you, and I hope you will tell me some of yours in the comments.
Here are some of my favorite thriller books:
All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda: This is a brilliantly executed story that takes the reader backward day by day to the beginning. I loved the story, the writing and the suspense. This is one of the best thrillers I have read in a long time. If you want a suspenseful book that you won't be able to put down, this is one to grab. I can't wait to read more from Ms. Miranda.
I Let You Go by Clare MackIntosh: This is an exciting, thrilling and stunning book that fans of psychological thrillers will devour. This book has plenty of twists and turns that will shock and surprise you, leading up to an absolutely jaw dropping finale. If you want a taut, page turning thriller, this is the book to grab!
Fool Me Once was a read that renewed my interest in thrillers. This book was a page turner with its gripping suspense and its twists and turns. I was shocked several times, and completely taken surprised by the finale. This is a must read book for anyone who is a fan of thrillers. I highly recommend reading this one. I will certainly be checking out other books by Mr. Coben.
He Will Be My Ruin is a page turning mystery, thick with suspense, red herrings and twists that will keep you flipping the pages well past your bedtime. I loved the mystery, and I enjoyed the eclectic cast of characters. This an excellent murder mystery thriller. My only hesitation was I didn't like the bit of romance, but other than that, it was an exciting read. If you want a page turner, grab this one and set aside some time.
Black-Eyed Susans is a must read for those of you who love a suspenseful, fast paced, exciting, psychological thriller. Ignore the comparisons to Gone Girl and Girl on a Train, this book is entirely different, and it stands on its own two feet. I thought this was a fantastic read. I couldn't put it down. This is a book that perfectly blends suspense, murder and creepy without overdoing it. If you want an edge of your seat, page turner, don't miss Black-Eyed Susans. I couldn't put it down!
Somebody I Used to Know was a page turning suspense with a terrific mystery that kept me reading well past my bedtime. I loved the story and the twists and turns. This a satisfying thriller/mystery that delivers a good story without delving into the dark and disturbed. It has likable characters and an engaging plot. The ending brings everything to a satisfying close without doubts and niggles. If you are looking for a strong and riveting mystery, I highly recommend checking out this book. I will certainly be picking up books by this author in the future.
The Girl on the Train was a captivating and engaging thriller that kept me glued to the pages. I devoured this read, and I highly recommend it to those who are seeking a good psychological thriller with twists, turns and a solid mystery. This was a most impressive debut, and I for one, will be eager to see what Ms. Hawkins does next. If you need a page turner, grab this and set aside some time.
Gone Girl was a sinfully wicked summer read that left my head spinning. All I can say is pick this one up and and expect the unexpected. I wish I could share with you the many shocking reveals that amazed and stunned me. Ms. Flynn is a talented writer and she crafts a phenomenal story that turns upside down and starts anew halfway through. The characters are complex and definitely memorable. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I plan to read other books by Ms. Flynn!
So here is my list of favorite thrillers. Please tell me some of your favorites!
