It has been a fun month of Halloween themed posts. Today's post is all about the best scary reads I have read this past year. So let's take a look.
What books would you recommend for Halloween reading?
The Widow’s House by Carol Goodman: This is a creepy, atmospheric book that features an old decrepit house rumored to be haunted. The house is creepy and lends to the eerie story. Is there really a ghost haunting the house? Read it to find out!
Sleeping Beauties by Owen King and Stephen King: You can't go wrong with a King book, and to get a double dose is even better. This is a frightening book as it is about a strange sleeping sickness that only affects the female population. Very sinister!
Awakening by Amanda Stevens: This is the final installment in the Graveyard Queen Series, a long running favorite. This series features a heroine who can see ghosts and her job is restoring old graveyards. Plenty of chills and thrills in this book and the series as a whole!
The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures by Aaron Mahnke: This one is a fascinating as it takes a look at all the creatures that have haunted humans throughout history. The book explores all the legends and stories behind the well known haunts, and it is illustrated!
The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dark Magic by Leigh Bardugo: If you are fan of darker fairy tales, this is an interesting collection to check out. Ms. Bardugo blends her amazing writing with some old world tales with twisted and disturbing endings. Things are not what they seem in this book.
Just in time for Halloween, the latest installment of Ellie Jordan Ghost Trapper. I love this series as it is about a ghost hunter hunting down ghosts and solving mysteries in haunted Savannah. If you are a fan of those ghost hunting shows, this is the series for you. I can't get enough of Ellie Jordan!
Finally for those of you who are too scared for horror, I picked a terrifying thriller:
I See You by Clare McIntosh: This is a frightening thriller that will have you rethinking your daily routes and glancing twice over your shoulder to see who is watching you. This is an unsettling book because it could really happen, and if you are a commuter in a big city, I promise you will think twice about your route.
Some tricks and treats up there, certainly there is one or two that will give you a good scare. So grab one and curl up with a cozy blanket and a treat. What better way to spend a Halloween night?
Grab some candy on your way out!
Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
